I was slated for US initially, but to my surprise i was deputed to UK,though the stint was for 4 weeks then i was asked to fly to US on a short notice.
I have flied in with lot many expectations, one of the most powerful nations in the world, having superlatives added to all the sections that we could possibly think or imagine.. first impression at the Immigration gave me a feel that Immigration is stringent & doesnt take anything for granted...Newark International Airport.. i collected my baggage & asked a cab to drive me to my destination... Jersey City.. first look out of the window made me feel that i was in india, i could see chimneys.. roads gave a dishevelled appearance... and i could streets untidy..
old high rise buildings with garbage lying on roads.. i was stunned...is it US..? suspense wasnt over yet... i reached 248, Academy street, knocked at the door.. reached upstairs... oh god... where am i.. it wasnt a flat.. it was as if i landed on a apartment which is under construction..:) fortunately the inmates were very considerate, caring & affable... in no time.. i received a warm welcome.. they were expecting me.. had prepared a excellent meal for me.. we had the welcome meal.. then called up india..
Second blow came in ... guess what.. yes commuting is a real pain if you are put up out of NY, as to my fortune - i was suppose to join Warren Office, which is located far off..not exagerrating but only 25-30 miles away from Jersey city.. luck enough to sneak into the list of Mahesh, he owns a car and since we all believe in car pooling, i was in it..:) Then came the difficult part...accomodation.. yes bcoz i was on temporary arrangement, i could say am lucky fact is being a early bird i could find an arrangement - PG Accomodation in High street, a gujju family - though crowded with 7 guys.. i had no other viable option.. i would be shelling out 625/- monthly... that takes care of my meals & accomodation as well.. good deal..:)
